What began as a childhood hobby for Boston native Sonjia Williams became a clearly defined career aspiration by the time she enrolled in the Fashion Design program at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts. Armed with her degree and the dream of becoming an independent Fashion Designer, Sonjia relocated to New York, the fashion capital. It was shortly after her arrival where her dreams began transitioning into a reality.
Sonjia’s undeniable talent secured her a spot as a contestant on the 10th season of the Lifetime hit, Project Runway. Among the challenges won, her most notable included creating the winning look for Heidi Klum’s children’s line, Truly Scrumptious, which was sold in Baby’s R Us online and in stores. Sonjia finished the competition strong, securing a spot on the runway for her collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Fall 2014 was incredibly kind to Sonjia. She was on season 4 of Lifetime’s Project Runway All Stars and won 3 noteworthy challenges. One of which included her winning design on display at the Gershwin Theatre, another included her winning design featured in Marie Claire Magazine worn by Alyssa Milano. Also her most notable win which included creating a winning look that was produced and sold on QVC where she went live on-air to sell that very look. Additionally, she launched her Something by Sonjia line which is doing remarkably well. The success of the line fueled Sonjia’s latest aspiration, which is to debut a fall collection for New York Fashion Week, 2016. Sonjia has a great track record for turning dreams into reality and will most certainly meet the New York Fashion Week runway again.
